About the Female Writer: Nina :)

Well, my name is Nina. I’m 19 years old and my birthday is on December 30th. NYC Bred & Fully Puerto Rican.  Ever since I got my first pair of Jordans, the black and pink 14’s when I was in middle school, I’ve loved them. Nothing feels more comfortable then putting on a pair of sneakers and just doing whatever you want. I’m very simple, very laid back and chill kind of girl. I love music, sneakers, and disney.

I am basically in charge of the Surreal Movement Tumblr and I write on Girl’s Jordan’s that will be released (even though we all know that girls end up getting the boys sneakers any way ;) I definitely do lol)

Now, My favorite clothing brands:

I’m a Forever 21, American Eagle, PINK kind of girl :) It’s so much easier to match my sneakers with and it’s more clothes to buy! :D

Favorite Sneakers:

Boredeaux . Space Jams . Cool Greys <3

Favorite Music:

J.Cole - Drake - Mac Miller - T.I. - Kanye West - Jay Z - Trey Songz .. Any R&B / Hip Hop Artist .. I Love every type of music minus Jazz and Country. :]

Peace Love & Sneakers!

More About the Owners: Jay Kroon

My name is Jay. I’m 20 years old, born October 10th, and have been a sneaker head since. I came up with the idea for Surreal Movement about 5 months ago, and have been working hard ever since.

The name Surreal Movement has a nice little story to it. I started off wanting to be the owner of a production company, specializing in R&B Production, mixing, song writing, etc. The name Surreal came from my thoughts as a 15 year old, when the “I’m Different” fad became big. Everybody called themselves different. All of the things that people used to call me a nerd for, were all of a sudden becoming the norm. I found that to be odd, considering that my childhood was full of slandering of the very things people now love, like taped glasses, dirty Chucks, and nappy hair.

I was sitting and digging through the dictionary.com website, and came across the word Surreal. The definition made me smile, and i chose that for my company name. I added a “So” to it, because i like the way it flowed off the tongue. Fast forward 5 years later, I was working, started to have more spending money, and thus, more sneakers. I always bought pairs and sold them to friends or associates, or on ebay, to put extra money in my pockets, but one day i decided to make it a company. Taking the familiar ideology of the word Surreal from before, i began to research more on the history of the word, and the “Surrealism” era. I had been somewhat familiar with it from my one year in college at St. John’s University, but my research made me fall even deeper in love with the idea. Taking the “So” and adding the -le to it, i got Sole Surreal, which sounded good because i was doing sneakers. so the name is sort of saying, “My sneakers are surreal”, or my sneakers are groundbreaking, daring, pushing the envelope, etc. After a while i started not to like sole surreal, and changed it to Surreal Movement, because i feel like that is a more powerful name, and shows that we are a force, not just an idea.

But, more about me. Here are my favorite things..

Favorite clothing brand(s):

BBC(which i have tatted)

Kid Robot

Stussy

Controversy on Jay-Z’s new t-shirts, “Occupy All Streets”

Rumor has it that these shirts were pulled from the Rocawear website due to the fact that they were profiting and exploiting the Occupy Wall Street movement.

But are these really bad shirts?

They give a voice to those all over the world who are sleeping outside in the cold and trying to do something about the banking system. If I do find a way to get a hold of one of these T-shirts then you will definitely see me rocking one.

Broke College Students? Yes, this applies to us.. we are such a big and influential generation that we can change what is going on but we are wrapped up in ourselves that we do not truly see what is happening.

I think Jay-Z was merely helping by giving a voice to the people through his T-Shirts.

How many of you would buy this shirt? I know I would.
